Just a note to let you know how much you were loved, respected and missed! You were andamazing provider and protector. You dearly loved your family, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, aunts, uncles, cousins and co-workers.
Your mother asked you "what would it take for you to go to college?", "here"s $20 and a pen!" So you worked in the back country for Sequoia National Park with only a horse, sleeping bag and a fishing pole every summer to pay for college. Then you were drafted into the Army. After 2 years serving your country you went back to college to earn your AA degree.
You excelled in track, setting records it took several years to be broken. You are a member of the "5 Star 100 club" which means you were one of one hundred participants over the United States that qualified in 5 events to be awarded the membership card and pin.
You served your country in the Army in the Chemical, Biological and Nuclear warfare training. They tested mustard gas on you and other chemicals including being in the Nevada desert being exposed to nuclear bomb testing. You received a Good Conduct medal, letter of appreciation and Sharpshooter Badge (M-1 rifle).
You then married, had 3 wonderful children, 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Worked for the stated of CA, rising to the ranks of Fire Captain. You spent 28 years saving lives, property and rangeland. You missed a lot of Birthdays, Christmas's and family gatherings! However you made up for it on your days off! Oh all the hunting, fishing, boating and vacations! Wow.
You spent several years caring for you parents in their final days.
Spent many years of your retirement in Montana where you continued helping others, still saving lives and property! Always a first Responder!
You built and restored 2 cars from the ground up, oh how you loved the hot rods from the 50's and 60's!
Our son came from Alaska as he was determined to get the 1960 Chev. Impala you had started restoring finished and take you for a ride in it! By now you were too ill to finish it. Which he did! He gave you a ride around the loop in your pride and joy. What and amazing gift to his father. Our grandson also came to say goodbye and wrote you and amazing letter telling you how much he loved you and appreciated all you had done for him. He's hoping to instill all of the good qualities in his children that you had given him. RIP papaa............
You were a wonderful man and I will love you forever!
Miss you every day My Love
How appropriate for you to have passed on a Sunday "A day of rest" and on "Memorial Day" weekend!
Love, in Jesus name, your Family!
