Renee "Sasso" Doreen Klakken

December 27, 1959 - June 6, 2026

Renee Klakken passed away with a respiratory illness in Bozeman Hospital on June 6, 2026 with her husband and sister by her side. She was born on December 27, 1959 in Dillon, Montana to John Jr. and Beverly (Peterson) Hren and had one older sister, Cheryl.

In the early stages of her life, she was raised on the family ranch south of Dillon with her grandparents, parents and sister. Living in a house right next to her was her parental grandparents John and Catherine (Rebich) Hren. She spent a lot of her pre-school time taking care of the farm animals helping her grandmother. This time instilled a lifelong love of all animals.

Renee went to the local schools, graduating at Beaverhead County High School in 1978. It was near the end of this time that she met the love of her life, Michael Klakken. The two decided together to attend Montana State University, her in accounting and him in Physics. After one year in college, they decided to consummate their relationship and they got married on September 8, 1979. After they both graduated, Renee with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Mike with a Bachelor of Science with major in Physics and minor in Mathematics, Mike attended graduate school in Pullman, Washington with Renee in tow. While Mike was in school, Renee obtained a job in the accounting department at WSU.

After Mike graduated from WSU, he obtained a position in Salt Lake City at a rocket manufacturing company previously known as Hercules. Renee started out being a house wife but after a short time, she found her accounting background calling and went to work for the State of Utah surplus department and later in the State accounting department.

Renee and Mike returned to Dillon in 1998 to make their home and Renee helped care for her Grandmother and later both her parents. She also became active doing accounting in their business named Aces Inc. for a few special customers until her death. Sasso was also a member of BASS and the Dillon Elks.

She is survived by her husband Mike Klakken, sister Cheryl Hren and her husband Jeff Nelson, her aunt Joan Bowman, first cousins Richie and Randy Bowman and good friend Raymond Graham. She also loved her numerous animals (mainly dogs and cats but once a shool of fish to taunt the cats) always by her side.

Per Renee's wishes there will be no service but a gathering will be held at a later date which will be announced later. Any remembrances can be made to BASS for Meals on Wheels or the Beaverhead Humane Society.
