Randall Bergeson June 27, 1944 ~ January 23, 2026

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of one of the true characters of his time.

Randall Bergeson, age 81, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2026, at Billings Medical Center due to complications after suffering a stroke. Randall resided in Belgrade, MT and was formerly from Dell, MT.

Randall was born on June 27, 1944, in Rexburg, Idaho to Reed and Louie (Roberts) Bergeson. The 3rd of 6 boys, raised in Parker, Idaho. He graduated from South Fremont High School in St. Anthony, Idaho in 1962. His life after high school included serving in the National Guard, later working for Larry Rigby of T Span Buildings as a builder of timber span and steel buildings, which led to him owning his own steel building company and eventually landing in Montana where he rekindled a relationship with a former classmate, Patty Morton-Clarno.

Randall and Patty were married on December 28, 1985, at the home of her Mother Betty Morton. Included in the marriage was a ranch beneath Dixon Mountain in Dell, MT and 2 stepchildren Dee and Bill Clarno. During his time in Dell, he took on the role of a rancher, helped neighbors with their building projects and he also ran a feller buncher for a logging company up Bloody Dick Creek near Jackson, MT.

Under the early setting sun of Dixon Mountain, he and Patty enjoyed the ranching way of life together, he saw both Dee and Bill marry the Love of their lives Shannon Christopher and Tracy Hess and proudly took on the role of Grandfather and Great Grandfather. After Patty passed away in 2006, Randall moved to Belgrade, MT a few years later, where he spent the remainder of his years.

He was an avid fisherman, whether fishing for brook trout in a mountain stream or whatever he could catch fishing on the ice. He anxiously awaited the beginning of baseball season on the TV, as he thoroughly enjoyed the game. After moving to Belgrade, he would help his son in law Shannon Christopher in the construction business as the roller man, traveling on trips to various places that he referred to as "Christopher Expeditions" some he enjoyed others not so much, but he always had a good story to tell others upon their return.

Randall is survived by his brothers, Lavoy (Nadine) Bergeson of Rexburg, ID, Cecil Bergeson of Parker, Idaho, Stepdaughter Dee (Shannon) Christopher of Belgrade, MT, Tracy Hess-Clarno of Victor, MT Grandchildren, Shay(Blaine) Dauenhauer of Lima, MT, Joelle(Dylan) Patterson of Belgrade, MT, Shiloh(Jordan) Christopher of Three Forks, MT, Colton(Ashlee) Clarno of Dillon, MT, Cimbrelyn(Derrick) Wade of Syracuse, UT, Caden(Clay) Clarno of Belgrade, MT and Cenzington Clarno of Syracuse, UT, and by his great grandchildren, BrayleeOaryn and Jaylon Patterson, Fayth, Audrey, Rhett, Wyatt Clarno and Henley, Annastyn, and Weston Wade.
