Noble “Scott” Nieder, 67, of Dillon MT, passed away at home, Wednesday, April 16th, 2025, with his wife by his side. Scott was born in Lander, WY to Robert Lewis and Ruby(Clancey) Neider. He lived in DuBois, WY until he was 15 years old and then the family moved to Lead Hill, AR where he graduated from high school in 1974. After graduation he went to work in Yellville, AR in a hospital in the lab, where he met the love of his life Shirlee Stills. The couple went on their first date responding to a gunshot wound while Scott was working as an EMT on the ambulance. The couple was married September 2nd, 1978 at the Baptist Church in Lead Hill, Arkansas. In 1980 Scott graduated from Arkansas College with a degree in laboratory technology. After graduation the couple loaded up all their belongings and moved to Alaska, living a carefree life. After about three months the couple moved to Missoula, MT where they both got jobs, Scott working at Saint Pats Hospital and Shirlee working at Missoula General as a nurse. In 1987 the couple moved to Dillon, MT and approximately 3 years later Scott decided to go back to school to get his degree as an RN Scott worked until 2016 as an RN when he retired. After his retirement he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and hiking with his wife. Scott also loved working with pottery that they sold out of their home. No matter where he was at or what he was doing you could always find his partner in crime Shirlee, in 47 years the couple were inseparable.
Scott is preceded in death by both of his parents, and his brother James Helt and a brother-in-law Jack Howard.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, one sister Ciska (Robert) Mosher, Salmon, ID. And his three fur babies Anise, Sage, and Pepper.
In lieu of flowers the family suggested donations be sent to Saint Jude’s Hospital which was a charity close to Scott’s heart. There will be an informal gathering at Brundage Funeral Home On Wednesday April 23rd at 10:00 AM, to share memories with coffee and cookies, provided. A small graveside service will be held immediately following. Reception to be held after interment at Mac's Last Cast, everyone invited.
