Nettie Welborn

January 2, 1928 — October 21, 2021

Nettie H. (Felton)Welborn Born, January 2, 1928, to Montana Pioneers, at Bears Paw, in Rural Blaine County , and entered into rest October 21, 2021, in Bozeman Montana. During her lifetime, she lived in Havre, Pompey’s Pillar, Terry, Nibbe, Sheridan, Dell, Lima and finally retiring to Dillon. She was all things Montana, and prideful of the fact that she was a “Montana Native.” She was always a giver, who's home & more specifically her dinner table, was a welcome place to family, friends, ranch hands, neighbors, or anyone that showed up any time of day or night. She never had a bad word to say, nor ever engaged in the negative, regardless of the moment. She always powered through any situation, with a smile on her face. Just like her parents Robert & Stella, she met on the level, parted on the square, and was always fair and honest in her dealings. She was humble, smart, perceptive, could think on her feet, always remained calm in any situation, and always shared sage advice, but only when asked. After graduating from high school in 1946, she attended both Northern Montana College, and later obtaining her bachelors degree, in elementary education, from Eastern Montana College. She then taught school in Terry Montana, and at the Keller, a country school, which was near the first farming and ranch operation, that together, she, and her husband Dean, built over the next 48 years, until his passing in 2001, and then continued until the end. One of her great joys in her later years, was watching the crops grow, cattle and wildlife forage, and the machinery working in her fields. She always allowed access to respectful hunters and anglers, and was a Charter Block Management Cooperator, recently receiving her 25 year gate sign from FWP. She was also an engaged member of the Montana Farm Bureau Federation, for over 60 years. She also enjoyed her time spent as an election judge, Sunday school teacher, with her Eastern Star peers, and with her dear friends in in the Dell Home Demonstration Club. She is survived by her Brother Ted Solomon, children, Sheryl Tremis (Bob), Corinne Welborn, Bob Welborn (Jill) , Mona Welborn, and Jeff Welborn (Marni Fifield) ; grandchildren, Rachel, Becky, Guy, Chad, Miranda, Brant, Cymbree, Kash and Wyatt; along with six great grandchildren, all of who each brought her their individual brand of enjoyment. She was preceded in death by, Dean, her Husband of 48 Years, her parents, Robert & Stella Felton, siblings, Ruth, Charlie, John, & Harry Felton, and Ruthie Solomon. Services will be held on November 6, in Dillon, starting with graveside services at 9AM, in the Mountain View Cemetery; followed by a celebration of life at 11AM, in the Swysgood Center, on the Campus of UM- Western. Memorial contributions may be made to Bagdad Shriners Transportation Fund, Montana 4H Foundation, Beaverhead EMS.
