Jason Lee Pursel, passed away due to complications of an asthma attack on January 24, 2026 in Dillon, MT.
Jason was born in Quakertown PA on March 15, 1972 to David "Butch" and Janet Pursel. He was the eldest of three boys and took pride in being a big brother to Wyatt, and Davie. Jason shared his childhood years with his beloved cousin whom he considered a brother, Barret Pursel. Jason would often tell stories of the mischief he & Barrett got themselves into (and our of!) and cherished these memories all of his life
Jason graduated from Upper Perkiomen High School in Pennsburg, PA in 1990 & set out to conquer the world. Jason had lived so much in his short time here on Earth. Jason built, owned and operated an indoor rock climbing gym in Pennsburg, PA - The climbing gym was one of Jason's greatest accomplishments -Jason was proud to share his passion for rock limbing by teaching others and providing a space for people to grow and challenge themselves. Jason loved to rock climb, and do anything that connected him to nature. He never wasted a day sitting idle. He was always out hiking, rock hounding, exploring, floating a river, or knapping arrowheads by a creek. Jason was a skilled carpenter, who could problem solve & build anything. Jason loved music and had a deep admiration for Ronnie Van Zant & Lynyrd Skynrd He was an accomplished guitarist and brought his guitar with him everywhere he went Jason LOVED the Philadelphia Eagles, he never missed a game, GO BIRDS!
Jason's love for adventure eventually brought him out West. First to California, then to Ashland OR, eventually settling in Bozeman, MT. In 2015 Jason came to Dillon, MT for work where he met Kasha Kidrick. Soon after, he packed everything he owned into his truck and made the move from Bozeman to Dillon where he spent his last 10 years making memories and providing Kasha with unconditional, true love.
Jason was not a man of many words, BUT he was absolutely a man of his word. Jason lived his life to the fullest measure. His loyalty, kindness, and love radiated in his spirit every single day Jason's tragic departure from this world has left a hole in the hearts of those who loved him and were lucky enough to be loved by him. Jason had to have been an angel all along, here to share his light and spirit and set an example of how to be a genuine, kind person. His life and spirit will never fade & we will carry him with us until we meet again.
Jason is survived by his partner and best friend, Kasha Kidrick of Dillon, MT. Parents, Butch &Janet Pursel of PA, brothers Wyatt (Justin & Vinny), Davie (Maria, Mayva, David Michael) daughter Megan Hollis (Jake) and granddaughters Veda & Thea, all of PA. He was loveddeeply by his inlaws Vickie & Leland Griffin of Dillon, MT & a brother to the entire Kidrick family, sharing a special bond with his pisces sister-in-law, Kassie Kidrick. And of course, his dogs Opal & Birdie, and his beloved Cat, Bonsai.
