Georgia Mae Huffaker

January 17, 1931 — November 10, 2023

Georgia Mae Huffaker, our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on November 10, 2023 at Cedarwood Senior Living Community in Sandy, Utah.

Georgia was born on January 17, 1931 in Park City, Utah to George Elmer Butler and Eleanor Irene Butler and was the youngest of three daughters. Her sisters, Beverly and Betty adored her and she loved to be doted on as the baby of the family. Georgia enjoyed an adventurous childhood in the hills of Park City. She attended Park City High School where she had many friends and excelled in music and performance. She played saxophone in the school band and had leading roles in many musicals.

On February 22, 1950, Georgia married Calvin Huffaker and they were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they raised four children: Paula, Steven, Mark and Kent. In 1959, they moved their family from Midway, Utah to Dillon, Montana where they began a career in farming and ranching. Georgia’s greatest joy and accomplishment was her family. She was incredibly proud of her husband and children and excelled as a homemaker. She was a talented seamstress, crocheter, crafter, and scrapbooker.

Georgia was very involved in her community in Dillon. She worked for many years in a variety of local retail businesses and, in her later years, volunteered at Barrett Memorial Hospital and for The Festival of Trees. Georgia was a people person with a contagious smile. She was gifted with a bright sense of humor and the ability to set those around her at ease. To know Georgia was to love Georgia!

Georgia was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved singing in the ward choir, working with the Primary children, and was a beloved music leader to all ages. She and Calvin served as senior missionaries for the Church, traveling throughout Montana to sing with the Latter-day Sounds.

Georgia spent the last two years of her life in Sandy, Utah at Cedarwood Senior Living Community where she made many dear friends. Her Utah family members were delighted to have her nearby and Georgia’s devoted daughter, Paula, was her near constant companion in her last two years of life.

Georgia is survived by her children, Paula Poulson and Steven (Dana) Huffaker, her daughter-in-law, Christine Huffaker, thirteen grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren.   She was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin, her sons, Mark Huffaker and Kent Huffaker, her parents, her sisters and her son-in-law, Douglas Poulson.
