George Morse Waldorf, 88, passed away on December 22, 2025.
George was born in Glasgow, MT on April 2, 1937 to Lansing and Estelle Waldorf. His dad passed away when he was just seven years old. Shortly after, his mother and he moved to California. He would spend every summer in Dillon with his grandparents. In his teens, George worked on several ranches near Glen.
Upon graduation from high school in Van Nuys, California, he joined the Air Force. While stationed in Evreux, France he met Genevieve (Jenny) Pihan. After a year of dating, they were married in France. A year later, their first son, Thomas, was born. George was then transferred to McCord AFB in Washington where their second son, Eric, was born. The service then took the family to Oklahoma and then Hawaii. The family had many fond memories of their time on the islands. Their next transfer was to Offutt AFB in Nebraska. After 22 years in the Air Force, George retired and the family moved to Dillon, MT. George always loved Dillon from the time he was a young child. He was proud of his family lineage in Beaverhead County, which dated back to the late 1800's.
George began his love of high power shooting in the Air Force and continued to shoot throughout his retirement years. While in the Air Force he won many awards including a national record. In retirement he was most proud of the award as a Distinguished Rifleman. George and Jenny, married 63 years, traveled extensively during their retirement. They enjoyed camping, fishing, hiking, golfing, tennis and other activities where they could be outdoors.
George is survived by his wife, Jenny, sons Tom (Ginny) and Eric (Kathy), four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. There will be no services at this time, but memorials may be sent to the Beaverhead Animal Shelter or the Dillon Gun Club.
