Gary Lee Thompson
August 20, 1946 - February 14, 2024
Gary was born to Dale and Audrey (Trulock) Thompson in Glendive, Montana. He came into this world a couple of minutes before his twin brother Larry. Gary liked to remind him he was the oldest.
Gary and Larry were raised in Glendive with their three older sisters and three younger sisters. Being boys they pulled pranks on their sisters, often sending them crying to mom.
Glendive was a busy railroad town and in 1971 Gary decided to get in a box car and travel the country. He never looked back. Gary's adventures took him to almost all of the states from the west coast, to the east coast, down south and all throughout the heartland, working construction as he went.
After 30 years of working his way and traveling by box car around the country he settled in Salt Lake City. As his health began to deteriorate he came back to Montana to be near family. He enjoyed family visits in Red Lodge, Livingston and Dillon.
Gary passed away peacefully at the Pioneer Health Care in Dillon, Montana, where he lived. His favorite niece, Brenda Crews and her husband Mickey were with Gary and holding his hand as he departed from this world.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Gertrude Suko (Ervin), Carol Marshall and Beverly Sorensen (Gordon).
He is survived by his twin brother Larry Thompson (Sherry), and sisters Linda Utter, Gloria Weiss (Cleon) and Christine Rosaasen (Orlynn). He is also survived by 94 nieces and nephews which includes great and great great generations.
Gary is remembered as a son, brother, uncle and friend. We love you and miss you.
