Evert Stevens

Evert Charles Stevens 1937-2022 Evert Stevens passed away Oct. 25th in Bozeman hospital following surgery complications and 5 week stay. Evert was born in Roberts, Idaho August 7, 1937 to Jessie and Heber Stevens. He was raised with 15 brothers and siters. Going to school in Spencer, Idaho High School in DuBois, Idaho. He had 2 baby brothers also that passed away as babies. Evert served his country in the U.S. Army, spending time in Korea working as a heavy equipment operator. After discharged, he moved to Montana. Evert was a hard worker and was always ready to help anyone that needed help. He worked on ranched and farms in Idaho as a young boy. Then moved to Montana working several jobs last spraying weed for the forest service for several years. He met his wife Gay McMannis of 57 years while both worked in haying in Jackson area ranches and at the Diamond Bar Inn at the dances there. Evert loved to dance especially to old western music played there. He also enjoyed old western music at home. Evert also really enjoyed camping, skiing, 4 wheeling, snowmobiling, hunting and outdoors with his wife and anyone that joined them. Evert especially enjoyed a good horse, owning 2 at one time, he also loved to see at the new calves and lambs in the spring of the year and yes his cats, his wife and himself spoiled. Evert was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Art, Weldon & Donnie sisters Rose, Irene & Iris. Still living, Eleanor, Marie, Caroletta, Rinita and Collene, Brothers Rendel and Jay and family’s, many nieces and nephews. Graveside services are planned at Mountain View Cemetery Oct. 31, 2022 at 1:00pm. Lunch served following services at the Legion Hall.
