It is with heavy hearts and deep love that we share the passing of Doris Nettik, age 84, who left us peacefully surrounded by family.
Born in Ukiah, California, to Orville and Velma Hayes, Doris was the youngest of four children and grew up surrounded by love, laughter, and a strong sense of family. In the early 1960s, she moved to Dillon, Montana, where she would build her life and make her lasting mark.
Doris spent 23 years working at the Lion's Den, where she became a cherished part of the community and built lifelong friendships. Her natural warmth, work ethic, and sense of humor made her beloved by all who knew her. Later, she followed her passion for food and hospitality by opening her own catering business, earning a well-deserved reputation for her incredible cooking-especially her famous pasties, a family and local favorite.
Doris was married to the love of her life, James Nettik, for 56 wonderful years. Together, they built a home filled with love, laughter, and adventure until James's passing in 2023. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother to three daughters; Sharon, Joyce, and Angela, and a proud grandmother to five grandchildren; Shannon, Travis, Amber, Brittni (and Kyler, as well as 5 great-grandchildren; Brandon, Payton, Avery, Aspen, and Finley, who all brought her endless joy.
Outside the kitchen, Doris was a talented and competitive bowler, with countless trophies that showcased both her skill and her fun-loving spirit. She also loved the outdoors-especially camping trips with family. Her annual girls' camping adventures with her daughters and granddaughters were among her most treasured traditions, filled with stories, laughter, and memories that will live on for generations. And of course, Doris adored her "great grand-puppies," who never failed to make her smile and bring extra joy into her days.
Her kitchen was the heart of every gathering, her hugs were the warmest comfort, and her laughter could light up any room. Doris's legacy lives on through her family, her recipes, her trophies, and the many lives she touched along the way.
