Debra Elizabeth Galahan

February 4, 1951 — June 14, 2026

Dillon

Debra Elizabeth Kary Galahan passed away on June 14, 2026, surrounded by her children and grandchildren.

Debbie was born on February 4, 1951, in Billings to John Frances Kary and Gaynelle Elizabeth Gainan Kary. She married William John Galahan Sr. on September 24, 1971, in Missoula after a very short courtship. She was welcomed into the marriage by four very sweet baby boys-Billy, Wally, Jackie, and Seanie, as she affectionately referred to them-with whom she immediately bonded and became their mother. A year later, Debbie and Bill welcomed a daughter, LaTresha.

Bill and Debbie raised their five children in the Missoula area before settling in Bearmouth, Montana, where Debbie enjoyed entertaining her children, grandchildren, extended family, and friends. No one ever left Debbie's house with an empty stomach or an empty heart. She provided endless opportunities for laughter through her quick wit and funny nature, expressed in what her family lovingly referred to as "Debbisms."

Debbie was full of life-loving, kind, and nurturing. She made everyone who was blessed to know her feel extra special. Known for her resilience, Debbie was a fighter until her very last breath. She will be deeply missed by so many.

Debbie was preceded in death by her husband, William John Galahan Sr.; her sons, William John Galahan Jr. and Donald "Jack" Galahan; her parents; her siblings, Fay and Doug; and her sisters-in-law, Shirley, Marlene, Pat, and Bonnie, whom she thought of as sisters.

She is survived by her son, Walter Harrison Galahan (Tina); her son, Sean Michael Galahan (Annette); and her daughter, LaTresha Galahan Garrison (Todd). She is also survived by her grandchildren: Chelsey Galahan Cahoon (Creston), Chance Galahan (Sam), Trayce Galahan (Peighton), Kaitlyn Galahan, Morgan Galahan Lovlien (Nick), Holden Garrison (Paige), Hailey Garrison-Graham (Jack), Aaron Brashaer (Quartnee), William John Galahan III, John Galahan, Sean Galahan, and Taylor Galahan; her great-grandchildren: Pate, Maggie, and Hayes Cahoon, Mesa and Markie Garrison, Stetson and Rye Pepe, "Baby" Walter Galahan, Flint and Fischer Brashaer, Olivia and Brandon Meagher; her brother, James Kary (Judy); her sister, Bernadette Norton; her sister-in-law, Tanya Sgrenci (Peter); her brother-in-law, Thomas Ferlic (Jamie); and several nieces and nephews, all of whom would agree they were Debbie's favorite.

Services will be held at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Dillon on Monday, June 22, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. A reception will follow at the Lewis and Clark Room at the University of Montana Western.

The family extends a special thank you to the inpatient nursing staff, phlebotomists, respiratory therapists, ER technicians, housekeeping staff, hospitalists, and emergency department physicians at Barrett Hospital & HealthCare. Additional heartfelt thanks go to Dr. McIntyre, Rachel Smetanka, Dr. Heuer, and Dr. Lakatua for their years of dedicated care and compassion.
