Curtis D. Foust

August 11, 1943 — August 9, 2025

Dillon

Curtis (Curt) D. Foust, age 81, of Dillon, Montana, peacefully passed away on August 9, 2025, with loving family by his side. Curt was born on August 11, 1943, in Billings, Montana, to parents Owen D. and Rhoda E. (Caldwell) Foust. His family moved to Wibaux, Montana where he played high school football and graduated from the Wibaux County High School. On September 12, 1964, he married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Patricia A. Foust (Schieffer). They lived in Billings for a short time and then moved to Glendive, Montana, where they lived and raised their three children. In 1999, they moved to Dillon, Montana, where they both eventually retired.

Curt spent the majority of his career in road construction in equipment maintenance, belonging to the International Union of Operating Engineers. When not working on roads, he enjoyed carpentry and model trains as hobbies. Throughout their marriage, he remodeled five houses and two small apartment buildings with Patricia as his interior decorator. Regarding his love of model trains, at one point he had built out enough train track with model scenery and villages to expand across the length of their basement. When not constructing something, he enjoyed slow scenic drives, many in Makoshika State Park with his family and a picnic basket.

Curt was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and sister Ethel Powers. He is survived by his daughters Alison (John) Conner of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Charity Goodnature of Westminster, Colorado; son Greg (Yasmin Duran) Foust of Scottsdale, Arizona; four grandchildren, Layne (Frances) Conner, Erin Conner, Jackson Goodnature, and Jaden Goodnature; and two great-grandchildren, Caroline Teske and Jolie Conner. He is also survived by his sister Jeanette Strobel and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at the Mountain View Cemetery in Dillon, Montana, on October 3, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. Curt was a dog lover and adopted many older rescue dogs. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation in his name to the Beaverhead Animal Shelter or your local Humane Society.
