Dillon,

In Loving Memory of Conrad Quincy McDougal

Conrad Quincy McDougal, 44, of Dillon, Montana, passed away on October 20, 2026.

Born on December 7, 1981, in Butte, Montana, Conrad was the beloved son of Scott and Bonnie McDougal. Raised in Dillon, he developed a deep appreciation for family, community, and the Montana outdoors that remained with him throughout his life.

A proud Beaver, Conrad attended Beaverhead County High School, where he loved being part of Beaver basketball. He was a member of the 1999 State Class A Championship Team and helped lead the Beavers to a third-place finish at the State Tournament in 2000. He carried great pride in those years, the friendships forged on the court, and the opportunity to represent his hometown.

A true Montanan at heart, Conrad found his greatest joy in the outdoors. Whether hunting the mountains in the fall or casting a fly line across a favorite stretch of water, he felt most at home surrounded by the beauty of the country he loved.

Conrad will be remembered for his quick wit, mischievous sense of humor, and ability to make others laugh. A natural practical jokester, he delighted in keeping family and friends on their toes and was never one to pass up an opportunity for a well-timed joke or playful prank. He had a gift for bringing smiles to those around him and could turn even an ordinary day into a memorable one. His laughter, storytelling, and unmistakable grin will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

An avid hunter and fly fisherman, many of Conrad's most treasured memories were made in the mountains and along the rivers of southwest Montana. One of his favorite stories was the harvest of a magnificent 6-point elk near Clark Canyon in 2003, a hunt he spoke of often and one that became part of family lore. It embodied the patience, determination, and appreciation for the outdoors that defined him.

When he wasn't hunting, Conrad could often be found at Morrison Lake or on the Beaverhead River, especially at his beloved Sculpin Hole. There, with a fly rod in hand and the river flowing around him, he found the peace and contentment he cherished. Some of his happiest days were spent wading those waters, sharing stories with friends, and enjoying the simple pleasure of a day spent on the river.

For Conrad, hunting and fishing were more than hobbies. They were a way of life. They connected him to the land he loved, the traditions he valued, and the people who meant the most to him.

Conrad is survived by his loving parents, Scott and Bonnie McDougal; his brother, Zach McDougal and wife, Kristina; his sister, Darcy McDougal; his cherished niece and nephew, Hannah and Nolan Bunn who loved Conrad very much; and of course, his sidekick golden retriever, Tosh. He also leaves behind many extended family members, dear friends, hunting partners, fishing companions, and former teammates who will forever treasure the memories they shared with him.

Though his passing leaves an immeasurable void, those who loved Conrad take comfort in the stories, laughter, and adventures he leaves behind. His spirit will live on in the Montana mountains he hunted, in the waters of the Beaverhead River, and in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.

"May we think of Conrad whenever the sun rises over the Montana hills, whenever an elk bugles across a mountain valley, and whenever a fly line drifts across the waters of the Beaverhead. In those places he loved so dearly, his memory will always endure."
