Cloyd Wayne Devers (89) died unexpectedly on Monday April 21, 2025. He was born in Darrington, Washington to John and Mabel Devers on August 26, 1935.
When Cloyd was 10 his family moved to Dalhart, Texas. During his high school years, he excelled as an athlete in wrestling, track and baseball. He later attended Oklahoma A&M and Texas A&M colleges where he studied chemistry, biology and zoology.
Eventually Cloyd moved back to Washington where he met and married Barbara Hathaway.
He worked for Crown Zellerbach papermill as a pulp and paper quality control supervisor. He also owned and operated farms in Camas and Washougal, Washington.
In 1969, Cloyd decided to follow his dream and purchased a ranch in Dillon, Montana. The long time Dillon Resident of 55 years was a rancher, farmer, businessman and a very active sportsman. He was passionate about hunting, fishing and horseback riding.
He was married to Barbara Devers for 58 years until her passing in August of 2015. Two years later, Cloyd met and married JoAnn (Moore) Devers.
Cloyd is survived by his wife JoAnn, his brother Dale Devers (Judy), his son Allen Devers (Megan), his daughter Carla Brown - Roderick (Gavyn), stepson Warren Moore (Sally) and son-n-law Wade Haby.
Cloyd has many nieces and nephews, 9 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 11 great, great grandchildren.
Cloyd was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Devers, his son John Scott Devers, his daughter Mara Lynn Haby, son-n-law Doug Brown and grandson Dustin Brown.
In Lew of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to the American Cancer Society or Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation in the name of Cloyd Devers.
