Billy Lorengo

Billy Jean (Shafer) Lorengo (age 90) passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter and son-in-law in Boise, ID, on December 21, 2023.

Billy was born August 3, 1933, in Gause, TX, to Franklin Shafer and Johnnie Belle (Shafer) Wilson. She is preceded in death by her parents and her only sister, Shirely (Shafer) York, who died in September 2023. Billy's family of origin left Texas in 1945 and moved to Butte, MT, with her stepfather, Frank Wilson. Billy graduated from Butte High School in 1951 and she married Louis Lorengo in February of 1955. They were married for 52 years. Louis preceded her in death in January of 2007. She is survived by her two daughters, Sandy Robinson (Great Falls, MT) and Jacquie (Guy) Ausmus (Boise, ID). She has four surviving granddaughters: Christie (Dan) Foy, Julie Robinson, Brittany (Adam) Steer, and Lauren (Kyle) Ausmus. She has five great grandchildren: Sydney Foy, Scarlett Foy, Lillyanna Comfort, Maxwell Steer and A. J. Steer. Billy is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews as well as many friends.

Billy was a stay-at-home mom who was always available to her daughters, and she welcomed many friends into her home. She attended Western Montana College when the girls were in high school and then worked several years in the parts department at Elliott Ford in Dillon. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother as well as a friend to many. She had a raucous sense of humor and loved reading, working jig saw puzzles, and sharing her homemade limoncello with all visitors to her home.

A celebration of Billy's life and interment in Mountain View Cemetery in Dillon, MT, will be held at Brundage Funeral Chapel on January 11 th at 11:00 am with interment immediately following. There will be a reception and luncheon at Mac's Last Cast immediately after the interment.
