Ted Knapp

June 16, 1953 — December 12, 2018

Beloved Father, Grandfather “Papa Teddy Bear” Brother and Friend Ted Monte Knapp age 65 passed away December 12, 2018 at his home in Argenta surrounded by family. He was born June 16, 1953 to Jack and Nancy(Shafer) Knapp in Dillon, MT. He was the eldest of 6 children. He grew up in Argenta in a little house that had been converted from a smelter leftover from the silver mining boom. He loved hunting and fishing as well as spending time with family. He could often be found sitting around the kitchen table drinking coffee watching the traffic roll ya by and visiting with whoever dropped by. Ted had many occupations throughout his life being a self proclaimed “Jack of all trades but master of none.” His favorite phrase was “You know what I mean.” On July 23, 1971 he married Valorie Gorman. From this union came according to Ted himself “The only two good things I ever did,” his son Michael and daughter Michelle, whom he was very proud of. In 1985, after the end of his first marriage, Ted lived in Arizona and Alaska for a brief time. He later returned to Argenta, where he lived the remainder of his life. Ted found his significant other, Diane Stienmentz and the two were together for 25 years until her passing in 2008. During his last weeks he was thrilled to be able to have his first ever video call with his grandchildren saying “this is pretty neat” and “what a good looking bunch of kids.” Ted was preceded in death by his parents Jack and Nancy, younger siblings Jeff,(died at birth) Jess and Judy and his significant other, Diane. He is survived by his son Michael(Cedar) and his children Shannon, Michaley, Jackson and Caitlyn, daughter Michelle, brothers Tony(Terri) and Jack “Inky” as well numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. There is a celebration of life pot luck scheduled for Monday, December 17, 2018 at 1 PM at the Legacy. Please note the change of location from previous announcement.
