Philip Reeves

November 8, 1926 — January 3, 2016

Philip George “Bud” Reeves of Dillon passed away on January 3, 2016 at Barrett Hospital in Dillon. He was born November 8, 1927 in Shaunavon, Saskatchewan, Canada to Howard and Mildred Reeves. The family moved to Billings and then to Lovell, WY, Rapelje, Shawmut, and eventually to Alder, MT and he graduated from Sheridan High School in 1944 at the age of 16. Bud served two tours of duty in the US Army and was honorably discharged in 1950. Bud started working as a young man as a heavy equipment operator and was considered to be one of the best “cat skinners’ in the state. He probably worked road construction on every section of interstate in Montana. Bud enjoyed camping, hunting, and fishing all over Montana and he loved to play cribbage. He was known for his quick wit and nicknames for his friends and family. Bud married Billy Geiger and she passed away in June 1983. He married Elizabeth “Bessie” Tyler on September 11, 1999. She was his soul mate and fishing partner and the only person who could out-fish him. Bud was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, his sister Lila and his brothers-in-law Elmer Gee and Albert Brown. He is survived by his wife Bessie, her niece Bernice Nadeau and her family, sisters, Roberta High of Twin Bridges, JoAnne Brown of Butte, nephews, Dan High of Twin Bridges, Jay High of Powell, TN, Larry Gee of Rapelje, Richard Gee of Shepherd, Billy Brown of Easton, WA, and nieces Colleen Meyer of Stevensville, Yvonne Cappelano of Conn., and Susan Leiner of CA. Cremation has taken place and no services are planned as per Bud’s wishes. His ashes will be scattered at his favorite fishing hole in the spring. Memorials may be made to charity of choice.
