Otto Bossert

April 12, 1924 — June 23, 2015

Otto John Bossert, known to his friends as "Dutch" was born April 12, 1924 in Red Lodge, Montana, second son of German immigrants Marie Bossert and Adolph Bossert.  He attended Carbon County  High School.  In January of 1944 at the age of 19 he enlisted in the United States Navy.  He served on the USS President Monroe, an attack transport, which delivered troops in the assault on Guam and in the Philippines.  He was honorably discharged April 8, 1944, and returned to Red Lodge.  He married Nora Obert November 1, 1947.  The young couple leased two small ranches and for several years farmed and raised livestock.  Dutch then became a heavy equipment operator working for Carbon County and later for the US Forest Service from which he retired in 1986.  Nora, his wife for 64 years died in 2012.  Dutch is survived by their daughter Linda B. Gilbert and her husband W.G. Gilbert III, of Dillon; three granddaughters, Jennifer G. Scott, (Dakon) of Las Vegas, Nevada, Laura G. Parrish, (Ben) of Newman Lake, Washington, Lisl G. Scott, (Robert) of Belgrade, Montana, and four great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Nora and his brothers Gustoph, Henry, and William.  Services will be held at St. Rose Catholic Church in Dillon, Friday, June 26, 2015 at 12:10 pm.
