Mary Schulenberg

March 23, 1942 — October 30, 2018

Mary Ellen Schulenberg passed away October 30, 2018 at Pioneer Care Center in Dillon. She was born March 23, 1942 in Dillon, Montana to Joe and Margret “Muggs “ (Dumke) Lakner. She started school in Dillon then her family moved to Butte in 1951. There she attended school at Jefferson, Grant and Graduated from Butte High School. She married Joe Lovshin in 1963. They later divorced. In 1976 she married Bill Schulenberg. Together they enjoyed life living in the many places his job took him. She made lifelong friends wherever she went. They both loved to play cards, getting together with friends and bowling. She often worked in the offices of the trucking company (Trans Systems) that Bill worked for. She loved to travel in the truck with Bill, and she truly enjoyed seeing all the things that each state had to offer. Bill passed away in 2000. Mary Ellen stayed in Riverton, Wyoming for another year and then moved to Dillon to be closer to family. While in Dillon, she worked at WMC in the culinary department enjoying new friends and reacquainting herself with old ones. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, her parent, Joe and Muggs, her brother, Butch (Art), her in-laws, Bill and Freida Schulenberg, and sister in-law Annie Mc Daniels. She is survived by her brother Bill (Kathy) Lakner of Great Falls, sister Kathy(Mike) Shafer of Dillon, sister-in-law Gina Lakner of Butte, nephew Dustin Shafer and family, Dawn Jensen(Travis) and family, Drea (Taig) O’Donnell and family. The staff of Pioneer Care Center was wonderful to her, always stopping by to visit. She loved bantering with them and they in turn teased her back. They will always be treasured by her family for the care they gave her and the enjoyment they brought into the last year of her life. THANK YOU! Interment will be held in Forsyth in the Schulenberg family plot at a later date.
