Mary Doner

June 9, 1947 — January 18, 2020

Mary Jane (Wilson) Doner, 72, of Dillon, Montana, passed away January 18, 2020 while surrounded by family in her home after an extended battle with cancer. She was born in Hanover, New Hampshire to Dr. Paul Edwin Wilson and Jane Kathryn Ibey Wilson (Thomas). The family moved to Dillon, Montana and Mary attended local schools graduating from Beaverhead County High School in 1965. In 1970 Mary married Donald Francis Doner. In their 32 years of marriage they had five boys Daniel, Matthew, Steven, Brian and Brett. Mary worked various jobs around Dillon, but her biggest accomplishment was raising her five boys. Mary enjoyed spending time with her family camping and fishing in the mountains around Dillon and attending the many sporting events her children were playing across the state. Mary also enjoyed spending time with her sister Catherine and brother-in-law Fred Eaton, and life-long friends Lou Salmonsen and Joanne Ferris doing crafts, cross-stich, gardening and looking for treasures at yard sales. Later in life she enjoyed spending her time with her nine grandchildren Jory, Gwendolyn, Isabelle, Chandler, Shane, Wyatt, Reece, Braden, and Quinn. Mary is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Donald Doner, step-father Lloyd Thomas, and her brother-in-law Fred Eaton. Survived by her sons, sister Catherine “Kitty” Eaton of Dillon, daughter-in-law’s Talea and Brooke, grandchildren, niece Kathy Barbato of Beaumont, TX, cousins Sylvia, Jackie, David Roberts of Dillon, and Susan Roberts of West Linn, OR. Lifelong friends Joanne Ferris of Elko, NV and Lou Salmonsen of Dillon. A special thanks goes to the staff of Barrett Hospital & Healthcare Hospice and Dr. Karen Weed for making the end of Mary’s life comfortable. She was very fond of Cindy, Nancy and Marie, along with the entire team. Services will be held at Brundage Funeral Home on January 23, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. A remembrance reception will be held immediately following the service at the Dillon Elks Lodge.
