Kale Kivinen

KALE EDWIN KIVINEN, 81 Kale Edwin Kivinen, 81 passed away peacefully with his family by his side on February 19, 2019 at Barrett Memorial Hospital in Dillon. He was born July 27, 1937 in Hamilton, MT to Edwin Arthur and Alda Powell Kivinen and joined his sister Joyce. Kale was drafted in 1960 and spent two years in Germany. When he returned to Ft. Shaw, Montana he met the love of his life, Letha Baker. They were married August 25, 1962 in Wallace, ID. They shared 56 wonderful years together. They were blessed with two daughters, Secret November and Aldalee Joyce. Kale worked in construction as a heavy equipment operator for 44 years, retiring in 1999. After retirement, Kale and Letha traveled all over in their motor home. They had traveled to Las Vegas for 15 years on the Knutty Bus to see the NFR. The following years he enjoyed their annual trips to Las Vegas to watch the Professional Bull Riding Championship. If he wasn’t there, you could find him watching them on TV. He loved a good old western movie and game shows. The night he passed Wheel of Fortune was on in his hospital room and the puzzle was “MY WORK HERE IS DONE”. Kale was a life member of the Dillon Elks Lodge and played bingo there every Thursday. He will always be remembered for his quick wit and sense of humor. He had the biggest heart and a contagious laugh that would make everyone in the room smile. Kale loved being a grampa and didn’t miss one of their high school graduations. He was also proud to be called GGPA, by his 2 great grandsons. Kale is survived by his wife Letha, his daughters, Secret Kunkle (Jim), of Arlington, TX, Aldalee McAlmond (Bill), of Helena MT, his sister Joyce Pritchard, of Raynesford, MT, grandchildren Brenah Eunice Quinn (Tom), Secret Rylee Kunkle, Kooper Kale McAlmond (Kiela), Ivie Letha McAlmond, Jaret Foster Kunkle and Kaleah Evelin Kunkle, great-grandsons Kannon William and Witten Kelly, numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Kale was preceded in death by his parents, his son Koby Arthur, and grandsons Tad and Jase. Memorial services are planned for a future date.
