Ian Yuhas

Ian Joseph Yuhas passed away unexpectedly at home of natural causes on August 20, 2020. He was born in Dillon, MT on September 19, 1985 to Larry and Claris Yuhas. As a young child, Ian spent most of his time outdoors. He had a passion for hunting, fishing, hiking, and collecting horns. He also liked to snow board, ski, and snowmobile. Ian got his first job at the age of 13 moving pipe for the neighbor and helping his parents with the haying. He always had a job during the summer months, but he also had lots of adventures with his many friends. During his middle school years, Ian was involved in wrestling and 4-H. He attended school in Dillon, graduating from Beaverhead County High School in 2004. After high school, he worked during the summer months as a fire fighter first for Forest Service - Dillon District, then the Mount Taylor Hot Shots in New Mexico, and lastly for the Department of Natural Resources and Conservation - Dillon Unit, traveling to different states such as Arizona, New Mexico, California, and Texas. Ian was a regular at the YMCA always working out. He loved to hike and run and even participated in the ultra-marathon run across the Continental Divide. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in microbiology from the University of Montana and an Associates degree in nursing from MT Tech. He was a registered emergency room nurse at Barrett Memorial Hospital and was an EMT on the ambulance crew. Ian was preceded in death by his infant sister Nicole, his grandparents Carl & Mary Bolick, and his grandparents Kenneth & Kathleen Yuhas. He is survived by his parents, his sisters Chloe & Megan, his brother Jeremy, numerous aunts, uncles, & cousins, and his special friend Kayla Rasmussen. A viewing/celebration of life will be held Thursday, Aug 27 at the Jaycee Park starting at 6 p.m. with an open mic-story sharing. Bring lawn chairs, a beverage and a story or remembrance of Ian to share. A funeral mass will be held Friday, Aug 28 at St. Rose Catholic Church at 3 p.m. Because of the Corona Virus, there will not be a reception afterwards. Memorial contributions can be made to the Beaverhead Ambulance or to the Barrett Hospital Foundation designating the “Emergency Room Department”.
