Greta Mazell Chaffin

August 9, 1932 - March 6, 2022

Greta Kenney Chaffin, 89, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, passed away in her sleep on the morning of Sunday, March 6, 2022. Greta was born on August 9, 1932 to Noble Herbert and Mazell Jones Kenney, in Idaho Falls, Idaho where she was raised in a loving family, with brothers Jack, Bruce, and Wally. She graduated from Idaho Falls High School in 1950, participating in many activities and always a loyal Tiger. Greta married her high school sweetheart Larry Chaffin on August 28, 1951 in the Idaho Falls Temple. They moved immediately to Dillon, Montana where for the next 23 years they were partners in Chaffin Land and Livestock with Larry’s brother, Gayle and wife Katie. They later worked side by side as they owned and operated Chaffin Printing and Office Supply, and then KDBM Radio. Greta was active in the community, being very involved with Jayceens and as volunteer for United Way. She was a faithful and dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many capacities throughout her life. After they retired, Larry and Greta served a full-time mission for the Church to the Washington DC Temple. She is survived by her children, John (Debbie) of Billings, Montana, Ken (Ann Marie) of Island Park, Idaho, Lori (George) of Provo, Utah, and Bruce (Marriah) of Dillon, Montana; 18 grandchildren, and 39 great-grandchildren. Larry passed away in May of 2011. She leaves a beautiful legacy of love, unselfish service, laughter and devotion to family for which we are forever blessed. Services will be held at the Dillon Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Saturday, March 19th at 10:00 AM. Visitation will be from 6:30-8:00 PM Friday, March 18th at Brundage Funeral Home.
