Erdene Peck

September 23, 1920 — May 1, 2016

Erdene S. Peck died May 1, 2016 at her home at Big Sky Senior Living in Butte, Montana. Her family was with her. Erdene was born in Geneva, Illinois on September 23, 1920 the daughter of Julius and Esther Sackrison. The family moved to Indianapolis for a time, but when her father died they returned to the area and Erdene lived in Geneva with her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Ira Johnson. She met her husband-to-be, George, when they were students at Geneva High School. After high school, Erdene attended the National College of Education and then taught kindergarten in Geneva. Erdene and George S. Peck, Sr. were married in 1942. George served in the Navy during World War II and after the war they lived first in Geneva and then moved to the Peck family farm west of Geneva. They had three children, George Jr., Anne, and John, all of whom grew up on the farm and attended Geneva schools. In the 1970's when George and Erdene moved to Montana, they worked with the Geneva Park District to preserve the farm and it is now Peck Farm Park. In Montana, they settled on Trapper Creek Ranch in Melrose which their son John and grandson JM continue to operate. George and Erdene had 66 wonderful years together before his death in 2008. Erdene loved to walk in the countryside and she took much pleasure observing the seasons change, especially the flowers. Her family was her life and passion and she is survived by her sister, her three children, five grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. We all love and miss her.
