Carolyn Hoem

November 14, 1945 — January 11, 2020

Carolyn Kay (Dalebout) Hoem passed away with family at her side on January 11, 2020 at the age of 74. She was born in Crosby, North Dakota on November 14, 1945 to Joseph and Clara Dalebout. After graduating high school, Carolyn went on to a successful career for many years with the U.S. Forest Service. After working in several cities around Montana, she moved to Dillon in late 1970’s. A career change in the mid 1990’s led to her work as a Pharmacy Technician, working with Barrett Memorial Hospital and Safeway until retirement. Carolyn was strong and independent, with a generous and soft heart, and a great sense of humor. She was an avid animal lover, especially passionate about horses and loved riding in competitions with Dillon’s Rambin’ Rose Drill Team for nearly a decade. She enjoyed cooking and trying new recipes – fresh bread was a weekly favorite. She delighted in gardening and bird watching, growing orchids and learning about precious gems and stones. A great source of pride and happiness was her 4 grandchildren whom she loved very much. Affectionately known as Nana K, she maintained a positive and active role in their lives and cherished time shared with them. Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, brother Larry Dalebout and sister JoAnne Meadows. She is survived by her daughter Cheri Seely, son Nick Hoem, and 4 beautiful grandchildren, sister-in-law Alcene Dalebout, and several nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her. A service to celebrate her life will be held Sunday, February 16, 2020, at 2 PM followed by a gathering to remember Carolyn until 4 p.m. at the Brundage Funeral Home, 300 S. Atlantic Street in Dillon, MT. In lieu of flowers, donations to River Pines Horse Sanctuary in Missoula, MT, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, or your local Humane Society are greatly appreciated.
