Bill Rehm

January 30, 1935 — September 16, 2015

Willard Alvin Rehm, known as Bill to everyone, died September 16, 2015 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Bill was born January 30, 1935 in Hebron, North Dakota to Alvin and Gertrude Rehm. He was the sixth of nine children. He attended Hebron Public School and Dickinson State College. He competed at the National High School Rodeo Finals in 1953 in Rapid City, South Dakota. In January of 1954 he joined the US Army and served in Germany and France, with an honorable discharge in 1956. He married Beverly Marie Keith on June 12, 1959. They had two children, Brooke Ellen Erb and Brent Keith Rehm. He spent the majority of his life in the livestock business. Bill traveled many miles and met many wonderful people as he worked for livestock publications and auctioneered cattle sales in nine states. In 1973, after the purchase of the Beaverhead Livestock Auction, the family moved to Dillon where he spent the rest of his life. He and Beverly purchased several ranch properties in Montana. He continued to auctioneer, and broker cattle and horses for the rest of his career. He auctioneered the Beaverhead County 4H Livestock Sale for twenty seven years, and he was instrumental in sending one of the first shipments of Registered Angus bulls to Japan. He is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and two brothers. He is survived by his wife Beverly, daughter Brooke (Calvin) Erb, son Brent (Mary) Rehm, five grandchildren, Bethany Erb, Collin (Berett) Erb, Brynn (Jordan) Lee, Brandon Rehm, Morgan Rehm, two great grandchildren Grace O’Donovan and Bryleigh Erb, brother Donald (Betty) Rehm, sisters Kathleen Nesheim, Lenore (Curtis) Cornelieus, and Donalda (Al) Tucker. Bill wished to thank everyone who made his career enjoyable. He especially wished to thank his wife Beverly, with whom he shared his life. Cremation has taken place, with a private burial. A reception for family and friends will be held Friday September 25th at noon at the Dillon Elks Lodge. Memorials may be sent to the Beaverhead Community Food Pantry, Dillon Backpack Program, or the charity of the donor’s choice.
