Barry Briggs

On April 22, 2020, Dillon, Montana lost the compassionate, charismatic, generous Barry John Briggs. He was the loving husband and life-long best friend of Mary Anne Jensen Briggs for 34 years. He was also the beloved father of two children; Tim Briggs of Seattle, Washington, daughter Laura Briggs of Dillon, Montana, and soon to be father-in-law to Bennett Chomski. He was born in Davenport, Iowa on July 28th, 1954 to Vincent Briggs and Kathleen Briggs. He attended Assumption High School and graduated in 1973. Barry found his way to his forever home in Dillon, Montana in chase of the beautiful scenery and mountains. He was the proud founder and owner of the highly regarded Barry Briggs Construction Company for 35 years. Barry was known for his flawless and meticulous workmanship which resulted in many beautiful homes and buildings in and around the community and consequently, lifelong customers and friends. His devotion to his craft led him to his ultimate project of building his dream home for his cherished family. Barry was a dedicated member of the Catholic faith and took pride in sponsoring many youth athletic events and organizations. Barry was a relentless sports fan, lending his support to the Seahawks, Hawkeyes, Bulldogs, and Beavers. However, Barry’s staunch support of Griz Football stood unmatched. Barry enjoyed riding 4-wheelers, snowmobiles, golfing with his son and his undeniable, special bond with his daughter, Laura. He is survived by his spouse, Mary Anne, son Tim, daughter Laura, sister Connie Hatfield, brother Doug (Pam) Briggs, brother Roger (Jeanne) Briggs, brother Mark (Jayne) Briggs, brother Ricky (Dorothy) Briggs, sister Jill (Brian) Mosley, brother Thomas Briggs, brother Steven Briggs, brother Mike (Patty) Briggs, brother-in-law Joe (DeeDee) Jensen, brother-in-law James Jensen and Joe Weise, as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his family, Barry is also survived by countless friends and community members that were touched by his incredible generosity and kindness. Barry always sought to elevate the lives of everyone he met, encouraging people to do and be their best while extending his hand in unwavering support. Memorial services will be held on Thursday, April 30th, 2020 beginning at 2:00 pm at Jaycee Park in Dillon, Montana. Due to the ongoing pandemic, friends and family in attendance are asked to wear a mask and follow proper social distancing measures, keeping in mind the health and safety of the grieving family. The family has asked that, in lieu of a traditional receiving line, you write down your memories and condolences to leave at the service. The family of Barry would like to express their sincere gratitude for the tremendous outpouring of love and support shown during this difficult time. The family requests that memorial donations be made to the Dillon Food Pantry or Barrett Memorial Hospital Foundation continuing Barry’s lifelong legacy of helping those in need.
